Roamy: Your Instagram Saves, Actually Organized
OLAPs review of Roamy, an AI trip planning app that let's you save spots in 1-click from from IG reels and more..
Welcome to the first edition of Oh Look, Another Product!
Born out of my love for recommending products when people ask (or don’t), I’m taking it a step further and writing about them - so they live on the internet for posterity. Or at least as long as Substack exists 🙂
This is a weekly newsletter where, in nearly 500 words, I tell you about a new product or app that I’ve been using, loving, and raving about (in all probability, also paying for it!).
Okay, so tell me this. When you’re planning a trip and come across 10+ reels recommending great restaurants, places to visit, or experiences, don’t you find it overwhelming to try to save that information? Maybe you:
Put it down in a note on your phone
Save the reel (to never come back and find it)
Send it to a friend and hope they’re a better person, and save it to share it with you.
But what if there’s a better way?
Imagine this: you’re doomscrolling and see a reel about “10 best coffee shops in Tokyo.” You’re visiting soon, so you share it with an app that instantly analyzes the reel, extracts all the places mentioned, classifies them (cafes, restaurants, bars), and drops them on a map for easy planning.
Magic, right? That’s what I honestly felt the first time I used Roamy!
✨ Introducing Roamy
Roamy is a travel planning app that turns your chaotic Instagram / TikTok saves into organized itineraries. Share a reel, and it extracts every location mentioned—mapped, categorized, and ready to plan. Simple as that.
🪄 How It Actually Works
I’ve been testing Roamy for the past month, and here’s what impressed me: I was planning my Koh Samui trip and came across about 20+ Instagram reels that I wanted to save. Normally, I’d spend time rewatching them, pausing to jot down names in the notes app, then manually searching each place to save links.
With Roamy, I just shared each reel I came across to the app. Within seconds, it extracted every location mentioned—restaurants, beaches, viewpoints—and dropped them onto a map with categories automatically assigned. What would’ve been a weekend project took me 2 days of casual scrolling.
The app works with reels, carousels, single images, and even posts where the info is only in the voiceover. It’s genuinely smart about parsing content. Once everything’s saved, you can drag spots into a day-by-day itinerary, and Roamy suggests a logical route so you’re not criss-crossing the island like a maniac.
It’s not limited to just social saves, either. You can manually paste URLs, upload screenshots, or search for places directly on Google Maps—which comes in handy when the AI misses something, or you want to add your own finds.
👍🏼 Why I like it
For a long time, I’ve been looking for a way to make my Instagram saved folder actually useful. Every time I plan a trip, I search for recommendations on Instagram, save a bunch of reels, and then... nothing. They just sit there. Roamy changes that completely.
Now, when I’m traveling somewhere, I let content creators do their job of recommending, and I use Roamy to curate exactly what I like into one place where I can actually take action. It’s turned my messy saved folder into a proper planning tool.
The accuracy is around 90%, which sounds imperfect but feels incredible in practice. Out of 50 spots I saved for Koh Samui, maybe 3-4 weren’t parsed correctly. Once, a bar got mapped to the US - annoying, but fixable in seconds using the manual search. The trade-off? I saved at least 10+ hours of grunt work.
I was able to plan my entire Koh Samui trip in under 2 days and still have a backlog of spots I couldn’t fit in for next time. That’s the kind of efficiency I didn’t know I needed.
The catch: It’s iOS-only for now (Android coming soon). And while there’s a collaboration feature to plan trips with friends, I haven’t tested it yet—though I’m curious to try it on my next group trip.
💰 Pricing & Subscription
Roamy comes with a 7-day free trial, where you can import unlimited reels to see how well it works. After that, it has monthly and annual subscriptions like every app.
Pricing is location-based: in India, it’s ₹4,999/year, but there’s a launch offer at ₹2,999/year that locks in forever (meaning renewals stay at ₹2,999, not ₹4,999). In the US, it ranges from $24.99 to $49.99 annually.
My take: For how much time it saves, the annual price is reasonable—especially if you travel 2-3 times a year. The trial is generous enough to test it properly.
✅ Final Verdict
On my scale of:
1 - You should try it
2 - You need to try it
3 - You better try it
4 - You download it right now
Roamy is a solid: 4 - You download it right now
That’s the end, folks! I hope you enjoyed reading the first edition of OLAP and are looking forward to the coming editions. I have some super interesting products lined up, and I’m excited.
If there are products you love and want me to know about, please tell me - and I might even feature them in an upcoming edition.
Till then, try Roamy :)
